Obituary for John Young

John  Young

Mr. John Lloyd Young, age 55, of 4994 Alabama Highway, Rome, GA, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008, in a local hospital.

A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mr. Young was born on July 29, 1952, the son of the late James C. Young, Sr., and Betty Childers Young. He had lived all his life in Rome and Floyd County and was a diesel mechanic. Mr. Young was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War era. He was a member of the Bush Arbor Baptist Church. Mr. Young loved fishing and hunting, watching westerns and reading western novels. In addition to his parents, Mr. Young was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert A. Young and Joseph Ray Young, and a nephew, Anthony Ray Young.

Mr. Young is survived by a son, Regan (Heather) Young AD2, stationed in Oceana, VA; one daughter, Brandy Young (James) Crabtree of Summerville, GA; two grandchildren, Brianna Conaway and Makayla Crabtree; three brothers, James C. (Ann) Young, Jr., of Cave Spring, GA, Ricky D. Young and Randy M. Young, both of Vonore, TN; two sisters, Nancy Montgomery of Rossville, GA, and Tammy G. Young Carver and brother-in-law, Ray Carver of Rome. A number of nieces also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Young will be held on Saturday at 12:00 noon in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Mr. Norman Pace and Rev. Dale Byars officiating. Interment will follow in the Bush Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery with the Honor Guard from the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion conferring military graveside rites.

The family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Heritage chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home. At other hours they will be at the residence, 4994 Alabama Highway.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Saturday by 11:30 a.m. and include Norman Pace, Jamie Edgeworth, Sammy Riordan, Michael Jenkins, James Crabtree, Will Barnett and Charles Whaley.
