Obituary for Shelby Jean Young

Shelby Jean Young, 65, of Kingston, died Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Cartersville Medical Center.

Born August 29, 1950 in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of J. R. Ray of Cartersville and the late Ada Pauline “Polly” Miller. Ms. Young was a strong Christian of Baptist faith who loved her children and grandchildren. She was an avid shopper, enjoyed music, dancing and flowers. She especially loved spending time at Lake Allatoona. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Gail Butterworth.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Martin and husband, Josh of Cartersville; sons, Gene King of Aragon, Michael Johnson of Cartersville; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters, Barbara Ray Harris of Cartersville, Janice Ray Brown of Cartersville.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Reverend Michael Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens in Rome, GA. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Hollis Smith, Joey Beach, Josh Martin, Skyler Estes, Joshua Young and Dan Worley.
