Mrs. Ellen Marie Arkward, 87, of Cartersville, died Friday, April 1, 2016 at Cartersville Heights Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Facility in Cartersville, GA. Born December 27, 1928 in Franklin, PA, she was a daughter of the late Julius Lawrence and the late Adeline Henderson Lawrence.

Mrs. Arkward was very active in her Christian Community. She was very giving of her time and provided home health for others periodically. She loved to sew, knit, crochet and was an excellent cook. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Byard W. Arkward, Jr.; daughter, Mary Ellen Arkward; sons, Lawrence Kevin Arkward and James Anthony Arkward and a brother, William Robert Lawrence.

Survivors include her sons, Byard Arkward III of Smyrna, Jerome Arkward of Greenville, PA, Michael Arkward of Cartersville; grandchildren, Shaun Davis of Wichita, KS, Susan King of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jean Day of Cartersville, James Day of Texas; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne King of Cartersville, Rachel King and Tony King both of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Daryan Davis and Shaun Davis II both of Wichita, KS; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Lawrence of Utica, PA.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 811 West Avenue, Cartersville, GA.
