Obituary for Yancey Frank Langston Sr.

Yancey Frank  Langston Sr.
Mr. Yancey Frank Langston, Sr. age 66, of Cartersville, went home to be with Lord early Tuesday morning on June 28, 2016 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 18, 1949,he was the son of the late Yancey Richard Langston and Marie Brown Langston.

Mr. Langston’s father passed away when he was 9 and he helped raise his three younger brothers as a father figure. He was an avid amateur archaeologist and spent many weekends with his son searching and digging for antique bottles and relics throughout the woods of Georgia. Mr. Langston loved Chevrolet and Pontiac muscle cars and owned several during his lifetime. He also enjoyed watching baseball and sometimes even the Braves. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Langston and his sisters-in-law, Barbara Langston and Linda Price.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Gayle Langston; his son, Frank Langston, Jr. and his wife, DeeDee Langston; his grandsons, Collin Cobb and Max Langston of Cartersville; his brothers, Jim Langston and his wife, Cindy of Blue Ridge and Eddie Langston of Kennesaw; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Smith of Mableton; his brothers-in-law, Sam Prince of Canton and Cecil Smith, Jr. of Mableton; and his sister-in-law, Joan Smith Green of Emerson.

The family will receive friends at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 2 – 4 p.m. A short service will be begin at 3:45 p.m. in the visitation room with Dr. Don Hattaway officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, Compassion International, Bible League International or Moody Broadcasting in Chattanooga.
