Obituary for Michael Eugene Atkisson

Michael Eugene  Atkisson
Mr. Michael “Mike” Atkisson passed away on October 27, 2016 at home, with his family by his side. He was a proud member of the Armed Forces, having served in both the U.S.M.C and the U.S Army.

A loving son, husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. Michael was a generous man who gave his time to family to help in any way possible. His love of animals is known to all. He is survived by his loving wife, Kelly; his mother, Nellie Baumet Cantrell and her husband Martin; his brother, Wayne Atkisson and his wife Kay; his sister, Teresa Dodd and her husband Bob. Also survived by his stepchildren; Shannon Caro King and her husband Pat, Colleen Caro and his much loved grandson Shawn Caro. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and their families as well his beloved nieces, nephews and their families.

In lieu of flowers, at Mike’s request, donations may be made in memory of Michael E. Atkisson to his favorite charity: Etowah Valley Humane Society. 36 Ladds Mountain Road, Cartersville, Ga, 30120. 770-383-3338.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Pastor Rusty Womack officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
