Obituary for Joe V. King

Joe V.  King
Mr. Joe V. King, 77, of Cartersville, died on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital. He was born in Kingston, Georgia on May 21, 1939, the son of the late Silas Jackson King and Jessie Mae King.
Mr. King was a veteran, having served his country in the US Army. During his time in the service, he was stationed in Korea. He retired from GM after 39 and ½ years and was a NASCAR fan. He was member of Cloverleaf Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed his church family and his family time. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jo Ann King; and his son, Ricky Wrena King.
Survivors include his daughters, Kimberly King Poe (Richard) of Cartersville, Kerri Michelle Knowles (Kevin) of Emerson, Georgia; his granddaughters, Kaylin S. Poe of Cartersville, Georgia, Madison B. Poe of Cartersville, Georgia, Lauren J. Cornwell of Cartersville, Georgia; his grandson Wesley D. Cornwell of Cartersville, Georgia; his fiancée Marla Ray of Adairsville, Georgia; and his sister Viola Pace of Land O Lakes, Florida.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Cloverleaf Missionary Baptist Church with The Reverend Seth Bunch officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville. Mr. King will be taken to the church on Monday, where he will lie-in-state from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Niehaus, Scott Pannell, Jonathan Speed, Ethan Walker, Philip Ware, Jimmy Williams, Jeff Cornwell and Jerry Price.
