Obituary for Harry Dale Elrod

Harry Dale  Elrod
Mr. Harry Dale Elrod, 71, of Cartersville, died on Monday, April 3, 2017, at Redmond Regional Hospital. He was born in Pine Log, Georgia on May 15, 1945, and was the son of the late John Davis Elrod and Mary Alice Willis Elrod.

Harry was employed by the City of Cartersville as a mechanic before becoming disabled. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed watching the Braves and NASCAR. He was referred to as “The Candy Man” by those who knew him always giving away peppermint and butterscotch pieces. Harry was a very giving and unselfish man and will be missed. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Dorothy Elrod and a brother, Donald Willis Elrod.

Survivors include his daughter, Vickie Fleming (Randy) of Cartersville; his son, Michael Elrod (Vickie) of White; four grandchildren, Kayla Salvatore (Joe) of Cartersville, Josh Fleming (Kecia) of Hiram, Micah Elrod and Bryson Elrod both of White; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Elrod of Cartersville.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Sammy Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in Center Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 – 8 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Elrod, David Graves, Larry Graves, Bryan Hovers, Tim Hovers and Brett Dooley.
