Mr. Emzley Stegall Howell, 92, of Rome, died on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Georgia War Veterans’ Home. Born in Floyd County on May 7, 1924; he was the son of the late Charlie Hensley Howell and Mary Elizabeth Kilgore Howell.
Mr. Howell was a veteran, having served in the United States Army and on the occupation force at the end of World War II. Following his service in the Army, he went to work for BellSouth as a lineman, where he remained until his retirement with 30 years of service. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mozelle Powell Howell; his siblings, Frank Howell, John Dee Howell, Inez Cochran, Elsie Gravitt, Ovaline Moss, Doshie McDonald and Leila Ruff.
He is survived by his siblings, Charles Lee Howell (Rae) and Henry Howell (Jan); his sister-in-law, Louise Howell; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Keith Willard officiating. Interment will follow in the Kingston City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday for one hour prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Cochran, Allen Cochran, Jeff McDonald and Granger Howell.
