Obituary for James Thayne "Jay" Cochran

James Thayne "Jay"  Cochran
Mr. J.T. “Jay” Cochran, 87, of Cartersville, died Friday, June 9, 2017 at Cartersville Medical Center.
Born July 7, 1929 in Montezuma, Georgia, he was the son of the late Sara Luna Tarpley and David Boone Cochran. Mr. Cochran was a lifelong Georgia resident and a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and a member of the men’s retired group at Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was a member of Carl Boyd Post #42 American Legion and also a member of the honor guard for 35 years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Mavis Caldwell; his brothers, Lee, Lacy, Wendel, Amos, Alden and Vernon.
Survivors include his wife, Eulin Abernathy Scott Cochran of Cartersville; daughter, Angie Cochran of Rome; Sons, Kip Cochran (Pam) of Leesburg, Alabama, Todd Cochran (Ginger) of Aragon, Georgia, Ricky Scott (Connie) of Phenix City, Alabama; Sister, Juanita Sealy of Florida; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 3:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Doctor Don Hattaway officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with military honors provided by Carl Boyd Post #42 American Legion. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.
