Obituary for William T. Overton

William T.  Overton
Mr. William Thedford “W.T.” Overton, age 73, of Cartersville, died on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Born in Double Spring, Alabama on July 18, 1943, he was the son of the late Carrie Jean Bailey and Alvin Overton.
William was a former Pastor of the Gospel Temple. He was an Alabama native, who had lived in Missouri and Illinois for most of his life. He moved to Cartersville in 1977. He was a retired propane delivery driver for Blossman Gas Company. He was later employed by AMC Ready Mix. He delivered the Atlanta Journal Constitution and the Cartersville Daily Tribune since moving to Cartersville. He liked to hunt, fish and garden. He loved his family and was a devoted family man. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Linda Joyce Williams Overton.
Survivors include his son, Michael Ray Overton of Cartersville; his daughter, Penny Lynn Overton (Donald Lee Tant) of Cartersville; his grandson, Michael Keith Overton (Amber) of Cartersville; his granddaughters, Lyssa Hope Robinson (Shane) of Cartersville, Natasha Ray (Keith) of Acworth; his brothers, Wayne Overton of Kingston, Lawson Overton of Kennesaw, Bobby Casey of Shannon Georgia; his sisters, Barbara King of Romeoville Illinois, Linda Ellis of Marietta, Brenda Overton of Chicago Illinois; his fiancée, Shirley Reeves; five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Cassville Cemetery with The Reverend Lawson Overton, and The Reverend Doug Simon officiating. The family will meet at the cemetery at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
