Obituary for Mary J Terrell

Mary J  Terrell
Mary Johnston Terrell, age 79, of Cartersville, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 5, 2017.
Mrs. Terrell was one of nine children born to Orion John & Pearlie Edwards Johnston on June 17th, 1938, in Randolph County, Alabama. She was baptized and raised in Antioch Baptist Church in Newell, Alabama. Formerly, she was a member of Noonday Baptist Church and Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta. She was an active member of Woodstock Christian Church in Woodstock.
Mrs. Terrell was blessed with a full life centered on family, friends, and her Christian faith. She was known for her pound cakes, immaculate housekeeping, sense of humor, and up-beat personality. She embraced any opportunity to cook for others and laugh over a good joke. She enjoyed close relationships with her siblings and extended family. With a generous heart, Mrs. Terrell gave many wonderful memories to those who knew her as “Mom”, “Mawmaw”, “Aunt Mary”, and “Mrs. Mary.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Terrell Wilson; her brothers, John Johnston and Bobby Johnston; and sisters, Mickey Bateman, Dess Russell, and Jo Ann Toole. Surviving family include her husband of 55 years, Bob L. Terrell; Sons and their wives, Tracy & Shelli Terrell of Cartersville, Chad & Dawn Terrell of Crystal River, FL; Siblings & their spouses, Jerry & Kathy Johnston of Bowdon, Ray & Joan Johnston of Arlington, TX, Janice & Tom Kemp of Gretna, LA; Grandchildren, Ali Terrell Daniel, Caleb Owens, Courtney Owens, Jackson Terrell, and Drew Terrell; Numerous Nieces & Nephews; and many friends.
The family will receive friends 5:30 p.m. -8 p.m. Tuesday, August 8th at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday August 9th at Woodstock Christian Church with The Pastor Lynn Eynon officiating. Mrs. Terrell will lie-in-state from 10 – 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, Marietta, GA following the services.
