Obituary for Lillian Bearden

Mrs. Lillian Bearden, 84, of Cartersville, died on Friday January 12, 2018 at Townsend Park Health Rehab. Born in Cartersville, Georgia on June 6, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Elisha Cornett and Agnes Meadors Cornett.

Mrs. Bearden was of the Methodist faith. She was a great mother and grandmother. She was a good cook and loved to sew, read and loved her black coffee. She was a very devoted Atlanta Braves fan and red was her favorite color. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Delton Bearden; her brothers, Warren Cornett, Henry Cornett, Wayne Cornett; and her brother-in-law Clarence Sligh.

Survivors include her children, Kim Scoggins (Mike) of Rydal, Phil Bearden (La Wanda) of Cartersville, Lori Bearden of Cartersville, Paula Hendricks (Chuck) of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Tara Scoggins, Tyler Scoggins (Nicole), Le Anna Bearden, Ryan Bearden (Candice), Ariel Belcher (Adam), Nolan Hendricks; her great-grandchildren, Will Bullock, Brantley Bearden, Waylon Bearden, Nash Scoggins, Lawson Belcher; her sisters, Madeline Sligh, Gayle Payne (Bill), Brenda Nix (Joe); her brothers, Fuzz Cornett (Sue), James Cornett (Cille), Harry Cornett; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Jane Cornett.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with the Reverend Joe Nix officiating. Committal will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Grandsons, Tyler Scoggins, Ryan Bearden, Noland Hendricks and Will Bullock will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to thank the staff of Affinis Hospice and the staff and nurses of Townsend Park for the care and support they extended to our family during Mrs. Bearden’s illness.
