Obituary for Robert Harold Roland

Mr. Robert Harold Roland, 77, of Cartersville, passed away at home, Friday, June 22, 2018, surrounded by his friends and family, following a brief illness.

Born in Adairsville, Georgia on April 8, 1941, Mr. Roland was the son of the late Albert Roland and Annie Bell Freeman.

Harold was employed by Shaw Industries before his retirement, and was a member of David Street Church of God. He was loved by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. He loved NASCAR racing, cowboy movies, The Braves and Wheel of Fortune. He also loved telling jokes, making people laugh and always the center of attention. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Bobbie Sue Chapman, Patty Slagle , Jenell Hall; one brother, Eddie Roland; daughters, Linda Kay Dover and Rita Baxter.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mamie Jo Roland; daughters, Trisha Murphy and her son Ben Murphy of Cartersville, Rhonda Roland of Cartersville, Tammy Roland of Cartersville; sons, Marlon Haney (Sheryl) of Cartersville, Robert H. Roland, Jr. of Cartersville, Jeffery Heath of Cartersville, Britt Baxter (Dana) of Cartersville, Todd Dover (Susan) of Cartersville; sisters, Mattie Lou Waters of Calhoun, Geraldean Tant of Cartersville, Sara Tant of Cartersville, Jeannie Earwood of Cartersville; and brother, Ronnie Roland of Cartersville; best friends, Tim Henson and Johnny Ray; special caretaker and best friend of the family, “Darlene Henson”.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Doug Vernon and Reverend Marlon Haney officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Ray, Daniel Vernon, Tim Henson, Britt Baxter, Robert H. Roland Jr., and Todd Dover. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffery Heath, Ronnie Roland, Terry Mundy, Tony Wade, Bobby Wheeler, and Larry Carnes.
