Obituary for Ethel Jane Elrod

Ethel Jane  Elrod
Mrs. Ethel Jane Reagan Elrod, 81, of Taylorsville, died suddenly on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at her residence.

She was born in Floyd County on February 17, 1936, the daughter of the late William Richard Reagan and Harriette Jane White Reagan. Mrs. Elrod was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She retired from Cartersville Spinning with 30 years of service and enjoyed gardening and cooking in her spare time. Ethel loved her friends and family in Sugar Valley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Harlin Elrod; her siblings, Josephine Martin, Catherine Perry, Dallas, Phillip and Lee Alfred Reagan.

Survivors include her daughter, Rachel Elrod Morris of Taylorsville; her sons, Eddie Elrod (Myrtle) of Kingston, Tommy Elrod of Taylorsville and Bobby Elrod (Carol Brock) of Taylorsville; her sisters, Lola Everette of Gordon County and Clara Mae Howard of Fairmount; her brother, Winfred Reagan of Cartersville; 12 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with The Reverend Ronnie Howard and Pastor Jonathan Padgett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Elrod will be carried to the church on Saturday where she will lie-in-state for one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
